Opportunities to Serve
Each of our Care Centers needs patient, caring adults age 21 and up who will serve women and families through the process of getting registering and receiving the services they need. This is an invaluable role in which you answer questions, offer support, and assist the nurse and other care center staff as needed. No counseling experience is required. If you enjoy meeting people, have good listening skills, a compassionate heart and a strong desire to care for others, you will enjoy this role. You will work alongside the nurses and receive all the training and mentoring you need. Our Care Coordinators enjoy meeting the women and families and making a difference in the lives of others in this rewarding volunteer role.
A PDHC Advocate is passionate about the mission of the PDHC and serves as a representative between a faith-based, community-based, or other non-profit organization, and PDHC. Our Advocates distribute and collect baby bottles that contain coins to help us pay for goods and services for women and families. Advocates place announcements in bulletins and distribute event invitations. PDHC depends on the generosity of PDHC Advocates on an ongoing basis to help us get the word out about the need for material goods and volunteer assistance at PDHC.
It’s not always easy for women and families to find the courage to walk through our doors, but our Care Center Greeters are the first friendly faces who welcome them, answer questions and assist as needed. Greeters help lead women into the hands of our care coordinators and nurses at our four Care Centers.
Make a big difference working behind the scenes doing data entry and light office work either at the administrative office in Columbus or at one of our four Care Centers. All training is provided and we welcome your time and talent as your schedule permits.
We are grateful to our Receptionist volunteers for their assistance answering phones and doing light office work at our administrative office in Columbus. These are the special individuals who keep the daily operations of PDHC up and running Monday through Friday.
Our H.E.A.R.T. Healing Leaders are group leaders who are caring and compassionate women who have been on a healing journey themselves and understand the needs of the women we serve. If you have been through our H.E.A.R.T. Healing class, and have a desire to help others who have experienced an abortion, we would encourage you to consider becoming a H.E.A.R.T. Healing Leader. We assist you with training and mentoring so you can help other women begin to mend and heal.
Help other volunteers and staff maintain the warm and welcoming atmosphere at our Care Centers by assisting with ongoing basic landscaping, spring cleaning and office organizing.
At our four Care Centers, we collect new and gently-used clothing and shoes for expectant mothers and babies from maternity clothes, to onesies, to footies, bibs and much more. Our Clothing Coordinators lovingly sort, organize and bundle donations into care packages for mothers and their newborns.
Please help us spread the word about our services in the local community by distributing fliers, postcards and other PDHC information to let people where we are located and how they can help the women and families we serve.
This is a volunteer who has a flexible schedule and is willing to use their own vehicle to pick up and deliver items donated to PDHC, such as baby bottles, diapers and maternity clothes. Our couriers drive the donations to the various Care Centers for distribution to women and families.
As PDHC seeks to get the word out about the needs of women and families in the communities we serve, we welcome guest bloggers. We encourage written, photo and video submissions from supporters who wish to share their experience at a PDHC event, in a volunteer role, or how PDHC has impacted their life.
